VREP II will support SHS, micro and mini grids in rural areas, strengthen institutions, and increase business opportunities for the private sector for the supply decentralized electricity services. REP II will transition from “plug and play” systems to more advanced SHS that require technical support, micro grids and mini grids where the latter can be supported on economic or piloting benefits.
Brenwe, Vanuatu
The Brenwe Hydro Project will include a run of river hydropower station, with a generation capacity of a 422kW, from twin impulse turbines. The main elements of the scheme are the intake weir, three phase transmission cable (to public road) and access roads to the intake, forebay and powerhouse. The hydropower station will be located on the Brenwei River, approximately 4.5km north of Brenwe village in Northwest Malekula.
Parliament House & Meteo Buillding, Port Vila, Vanuatu
Masdar and MCCND have been engaged in negotiations concerning the development, building and commissioning of a 500 kW solar grid connected system (the “Plant”) and associated facilities at the project site located at the MCCND complex and the Parliament complex (the “Project”).
Maewo Island, Vanuatu
The preliminary survey for the development of a micro-hydro system at Talise River on Maewo Island, was conducted in 1998. In 2001 and 2002 feasibility studies were conducted by Appropriate Technology for Community And Environment (APACE).
