Port Vila, 12th July,2022. The Department of Energy would like to inform the public that the price of diesel fuel will increase to 229 VT/L.

The price of diesel fuel will increase by an amount of 12 VT/L as informed by the Société de Services Pétroliers (SSP) Vanuatu. The increase therefore will bring the retail price from the current price of 217 VT/L to 229 VT/L. The price change will take effect on 14 July 2022 and is applicable at all retail fuel outlets supplied by the SSP around Vanuatu. The DoE will make another announcement one day prior to the effective date whether there will be any further changes.

Furthermore, the Department of Energy would like to inform the public of the LP Gas retail price as advised on a quarterly period by the Origin Energy Vanuatu. In the Second Quarter (2Q) ending June 2022, the price for LP Gas is 425 VT/kg. This is a decrease of 7 VT/kg from 435 VT/kg in May 2022. Since the First Quarter and 2Q, the retail price of LPG has increased by 53 VT/kg from 372 VT/L in January to 425 VT/kg in June 2022.

The Department of Energy would like to advise that the upward pressure on the petroleum products prices reflects the current world events affecting the global crude oil prices, the refineries and the petroleum products supply chain.
