Representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Adaptation are currently attending the Resilience and Sustainable Development (RSD) workshop for the United Nations Development Program/ Global Environment Facility national projects in Suva, Fiji.

The RSD team at the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji manages the implementation of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through national governments.The RSD team has organized a four-day training in Suva, on project management and technical aspects of projects with the following objectives:  Improving the overall management (including financial resources) of national implementation modality projects;Guided by the Project Results Framework and the Log frame, implementing to achieve results with a robust monitoring and evaluation process, gender prioritiesProject implementation management looking at delivery, identification of bottlenecks and their solutions, best practices and lessons learntEffective communication of results to stakeholders to bring about change and to inform decision-making. Background The UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji works with Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to strengthen their legal and institutional frameworks for sustainable development and addressing gaps in environmental legislation. UNDP also helps in climate change adaptation and mitigation, conservation of biodiversity, minimizing land degradation, ensuring efficient and equitable water resources management and water supply and sanitation delivery, replicating best practices for solid waste management programmes and increasing efforts towards enabling access to electricity, environmentally sustainable transportation and cleaner/affordable fuels at both national and community levels.  Attendance Project management teams; Government representatives (including Directors of Environment & Directors of Energy); Stakeholders (ministerial and statutory organizations); UNDP team.Countries: Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu. The delegation from the MoCCA at the RSD workshop included participants from the Department of Energy and BRANTV project officers.
