The Barrier Removal for Achieving the National Energy Road Map Targets of Vanuatu (BRANTV) project has officially launched the train-the-trainers’ workshop for solar photovoltaic (PV) technicians in Vanuatu. The workshop is conducted in close collaboration with the Pacific Vocational Training Centre (PVTC). The ‘Level 4 Certification’ training workshop is being resourced by trainers from the Sustainable Energy Industry Association for the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI).
The National Energy Road Map Implementation Plan (NERM-IP) developed by the Department of Energy with technical support from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) was launched on Wednesday 2nd October, by the Minister of Climate Change Adaptation Honourable Bruno Lengkon (MP).
Representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Adaptation are currently attending the Resilience and Sustainable Development (RSD) workshop for the United Nations Development Program/ Global Environment Facility national projects in Suva, Fiji.
Government representatives, community leaders and members from the different sites selected for the BRANTV Project have successfully completed training on the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process. The training took place in Port Vila on Tuesday 6 August and in Luganville town on Friday 9 August 2019. The training brought together participants from different government sectors from the national, provincial governments and rural communities throughout Vanuatu.
The Talise Hydro Power project phase II on the island of Maewo was officially launched and handed-over to the government of Vanuatu by the contractor, Pelena Energy on July 16th, 2019.
